Community Group Governance support
Governance is the process by which the board...
• ensures the organisation complies with all legal and constitutional requirements;
• sets strategic direction and priorities;
• sets high-level policies and management performance expectations;
• characterises and oversees the management of risk; and
• monitors and evaluates organisational performance; ...in order to exercise its accountability to the organisation and its owners.

Health & Safety policy support
Ensuring that your group or club provides a safe and enjoyable environment for its members is straightforward. You just need a clear and commonsense approach. However big or small, the group or club should have plans in place to deal with health and safety issues. How extensive these plans are will vary, depending on the size and structure of your club. But even if the club is small and uses a local community centre for its meetings, it’s still important that these issues are considered.

Policies are created for a definite purpose and linked to the group's mission, culture and values. Once developed,Policies should be reviewed regularly to reflect change within the group and within the community. A clear process of reviewing and updating policies will ensure everyone affected by a policy has the latest version and all policies are implemented and communicated throughout the organisation.

Succession Planning
Succession planning is about looking at where your group has come from, where it is now, where it needs to go and what your group can do to get it there. Ultimately, succession planning should help you achieve the group’s objectives over the next five, 10 or 15 years by ensuring that your group has the right volunteers with the right skills in the right positions at the right time. It is about putting a system in place to ensure that when someone leaves (such as the president, a coach or the canteen manager) the group is not left with a massive black hole of knowledge and expertise and that there is someone in the wings ready to step up into that role.
