COMMUNITY

Through the Taumarunui High School, part of the curriculum is to take on an internship.

This internship involves working with a business or either a local community group to learn how they do things.

We were both excited to take on this challenge thinking the Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust would be a great place to take on an internship.  We both approached Amy Perez to see if she would consider having us under her wing.

This has been such a great experience for us both already.  We have over this time covered things such as:

  • Finance - shown how to deposit money

    • Basics of accounting software

  • Behind the scenes of setting up an event

    • Understanding what goes on to run an event

    • Draws development

    • Event setup

    • Gear required for events

    • Food preparation for events - Food Licence

    • Post-event evaluation

  • Equipment upkeep / maintenance / labelling

  • Stocktake

  • Funding application overview

  • Filing

  • Website upkeep

  • Poster development

  • Social media communications

This has been a great opportunity for us both this far and the part we enjoy the most is helping out at the events.
